Novak Djokovic is currently tied with Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal for most Grand Slam wins at 20. One of the culprits for Djokovic not having more is Stan Wawrinka who bested Novak Djokovic twice in the final of a Grand Slam.
In a recent interview with Darren, Cahill Wawrinka was full of praise for the Big Three and Djokovic in particular. Stan said:
“Well, you never expect a player to be ready to win four Grand Slams, but I think what they show us since 15 years, even more between Roger, Rafa, and Novak, they are just pushing the extreme limit of how well you can play tennis."
Wawrinka singled out Djokovic in particular expressing awe at the level the Serbian is able to put forward year after year. He said:
“Novak a bit more the last few years. His level is for sure something special."
Wawrinka was also asked to give his opinion on the upcoming US Open. The Swiss 3x major winner said it was very difficult to predict but once asked whether Djokovic can win it he said:
“It’s tough to really say for me, I always feel that he will win because of the way he is playing, the way he can close match, and the way he can find his way. I always feel he is going to win.”
Wawrinka is currently away from tennis as he continues his rehab after undergoing surgery earlier in the year.
