Federer's US Open participation in doubt after Toronto and Cincinnati withdrawal

Roger Federer will not play at the National Bank Open Toronto nor the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati.

Roger Federer's misfortune started at Wimbledon when he found himself on the losing end against Hubert Hurkacz. The Swiss ace announced after that loss that he suffered a setback with his knee at the event which hampered him. That setback forced him to withdraw from the Olympic Games which he might have never played at all.

After that Federer decided to spend some quality family with his family which he did by vacationing in Croatia. It was unknown whether Federer would compete at the two ATP 1000 Masters events before the US Open as Roger did not offer any updates.

However, it is now known that he will miss both events due to a knee injury which was announced by the events in a statement posted online. Federer did not offer any comments in that announcement nor has he spoken on the matter so far. Those withdrawals sent fans panicking as his US Open might be in doubt.

The severity of the injury is not known but with the US Open only a month away and knee injuries notoriously slow to heal there is a big chance Federer could miss the US Open. Fans are hoping the withdrawals are precautionary but until Federer offers an update there is no way of knowing.
