Dan Evans is no stranger to being hailed a tennis prodigy as the British player was once a promising youngster himself.
While Evans never fully reached the potential that he had he was still able to carve out a spot at the top of worlds tennis simply by persisting. Despite many bad decisions early in his career and not fully committing to tennis, Evans is still a respectable pro ranked firmly in the top 50.
After facing American tennis prodigy at the Citi Open in Washington Evans believes the youngster has a very big future. He said:
“I think he’s got obviously a very big future. He seems very calm and levelheaded,
which is a good thing. He played good today. He put me away pretty convincingly in the end. He’s going to be a good player.”
Evans faced Nakashima and while the American won a close one in the first set with 7-1 in the tiebreak he was much more convincing in the 2nd set. A 6-0 win over Evans is extremely tough to do considering the Brits defensive prowess. Nakashima is enjoying a great run reaching back to back finals in the previous two weeks.
