Denmark’s tennis star
Holger Rune has provided an update
regarding her back injury which ruled him out of the Cincinnati Open (Western
& Southern Open).
The 20-year-old had to withdraw from the competition after
suffering back pain in the round of 32 fixture against America’s Mackenzie McDonald.
That injury intensified rumours about the possibility of
Rune missing out on the upcoming US Open.
However, the Gentofte-born provide an update about her back
pain and stated that it is getting a little better.
"Short update. Small improvements on the back pain,” he
said. “Scan, X-ray, treatment and excellent teamwork between doctors in New
York and Monaco and my team making me sure that I will be ready for practice on
Monday. Grateful for everyone taking action."
The news will be a pleasing one for the fans of Rune who
would be hoping to see him return to action in the near future.
The fourth and final Grand Slam of the year is set to begin
in less than 10 days’ time where players from all over the world will showcase
their talent.
Rune does not have a great record while playing at the US
Open as his best outing to date was playing in the third round last year where
he lost to Britain’s Cameron Norrie with a score of 7-5, 6-4, 6-1.
