Carlos Alcaraz has carved out quite a solid career for somebody who is 18 years of age and the Spaniard seems destined for a great career.
2021 has been a breakout year for the young Spaniard who won his maiden ATP trophy this year while also breaking into the top 50 on the ATP Rankings. He finished off his year in stellar fashion proving the best out of the Next Gen players at the Next Gen Finals in Milan. He will represent Spain for the first time in the Davis Cup later this week and during the press conference compatriot, Feliciano Lopez spoke highly of him.
Lopez is a seasoned veteran who was able to notch 500 career wins becoming one of only a handful of active players to do so. Speaking about Alcaraz he did not hold back praise saying:
"So many things make Alcaraz special, I haven't see many players like him. Is very rare to see 18 years old kid behaving out of the court as he does in the court. He is much better than me at his age, so I don't have particular advices for him".
It's a very kind comment by Lopez that made Alcaraz smile and the youngster will prove quite key for Spain in the Davis Cup title defense. With Bautista Agut out he will need to play very well in singles in order to keep his nation in contention.
