The
St. Petersburg Open 2020 continues on Friday with 4 strong quarterfinals with none more interesting than the one between
Stan Wawrinka and
Denis Shapovalov.
Stan Wawrinka and Dennis Shapovalov is one of the four matches that the Russian crowd will be able to see as the Friday schedule of play is a great one. Play will start at 12:00 CET with a fan favourite in Rublev taking on Norrie. Rublev is playing his first event as a top 10 ranked player and he has looked good. Playing on home soil only gives him more confidence and he looks like someone who is ready to lift the trophy.
Play will continue with another stellar match in which Wawrinka will take on Shapovalov. The restart of the season has been a mixed bag for Wawrinka who had moments of brilliance and moments of rather bad play. When it comes to Shapovalov it has been mostly good and so far this event suited him. It's going to be great no matter who wins. The next match is another fascinating one as Reilly Opelka takes on
Borna Coric. The American scored an upset win over Medvedev yesterday and he will look to add upon that against Coric who has looked solid but also shaky at times.
The last match of the day will feature yet another Russian in Khachanov who will take on
Milos Raonic. Khachanov had a tough match yesterday and looked shaken up early on after dropping the opening set but he came back to win. Milos Raonic looked superb since stepping onto the court in St. Petersburg and many expect him to make the final. To do that, he needs to win against Khachanov and with the Russian crowd backing him it might be tougher than he thinks.
