Stefanos Tsitsipas began his
Monte-Carlo Masters title defence with a brief match on the main court as Benjamin Bonzi retired down 1-4 in the first set.
Tsitsipas began the match very well but Bonzi was unable to match his effort as well. The French player fell behind pretty quickly and ultimately elected to retire. It's a shame for Tsitsipas who would not have minded a bit of tennis to get warmed up but he knows these courts very well having won the previous two editions.
Just one match closer to a title defence.
