Never in doubt 🇬🇷 A rock-steady @steftsitsipas gets past Zverev 6-4 6-2 and will defend his #RolexMCMasters title tomorrow!
Stefanos Tsitsipas raced past a very uninspiring Alexander Zverev for the back-to-back Monte-Carlo final 6-4 6-2.
The most exciting match of the day ended up not being quite the way many people envisioned it. Many thought we would see three sets of exciting tennis yet it did not happen. It did not happen mainly because Alexander Zverev entered the match largely uninspired and he never quite found the inspiration. It was a strange match like many have been recently in the Principality.
The greek opened up with a 2-0 lead after Zverev misfired on several forehands. The shot was working rather well against Sinner yesterday but today it was misfiring early. Some careless and sloppy play by the Greek gave the lead right back and made it 2-2. Tsitsipas won his service game to make it 3-2 and then he broke Zverev once more as the German continued to look sloppy.
He served for the set at 5-3 but just like yesterday against Schwartzman, he played a horrid game to bring Zverev back into the match. However, the German once again played sloppily and Tsitsipas was able to close it out with 6-4. The 2nd set was even worse by Zverev who was completely dejected as Tsitsipas finally found his rhythm and shots.
The Greek was clinical on his own serve and he did plenty of damage on return to race away with the match 6-2. A sloppy performance from Zverev who might have been drained after yesterday's match both physically and emotionally.
Never in doubt 🇬🇷 A rock-steady @steftsitsipas gets past Zverev 6-4 6-2 and will defend his #RolexMCMasters title tomorrow!
