Stefanos Tsitsipas survived a fascinating match with Medvedev in Turin to keep himself alive for the semi-finals of the event 6-3 6-7(11) 7-6(1).
It was a match that truly had it all as we saw great play, plenty of drama a lot of emotions from both. Medvedev was very animated in the match and that was largely because early on things really did not go well for him.
Tsitsipas won the first set largely thanks to his serve as he was able to get far more free points than Medvedev. The Russian tried some things but most of them backfired as the Greek took it 6-3. The second set was something that most expected to see in this match.
Both served well and played well never allowing a single break point. We ended up in a crazy tiebreak that Medvedev pulled out 13-11 saving three match points in the process. The final one was another crazy one as it started slowly but got mad towards the end.
Medvedev broke Tsitsipas for the 4-3 lead midway through and saved a break point to make it 5-3. He then had a chance to close it out at 5-4 but got broken against all odds. We ended up in another tiebreak but Medvedev played it horribly losing 1-7.
