Stefanos Tsitsipas wins only Barcelona match played today against Ivashka

Stefanos Tsitsipas and Ilya Ivashka started and stopped their match four times overall but eventually, the Greek got the win 6-1 4-6 6-2.

Stefanos Tsitsipas had to wait the entire day to get to the courts and face Ilya Ivashka but the Greek was usperb once he finally got to it. It was 5-1 when they resumed their match and the Greek finished it off with 6-1 rather quickly. The 2nd set was played well by both especially by Ivashka who opted to play aggresive tennis in order to counter Tsitsipas and his variety.

The Belarussian player found a good rhythm towards the end of the set and he was able to use a very casual approach by Tsitsipas to snatch the 2nd set away 6-4. The Greek once again showed a lapse of focus in the crucial moment similar to what he did against Schwartzman a couple of times last week. When the 3rd set started Tsisipas was very focused.

He realized the mistake he did in the previous set and he was not going to allow this match to slip away. He broke Ivashka early to take the lead and then added another break to finish off the match with 6-2. A long day awaits the Greek tomorrow as he will play an early match and then another one if he wins. He would have liked to avoid that 3rd set ideally.
