Fabio Fognini appears to question whether Rafael Nadal was injured in his Wimbledon quarter-final win over Taylor Fritz. He posted on Instagram: "Guys stop believe in what you read please!!!"
Fabio Fognini made a very bold claim on social media basically telling people to stop believing what Nadal is saying.
It's not so shocking when you break it down because Nadal has been known to throw pity parties for himself many times in his career only to pull off some incredible wins. It's nothing unusual for tennis players in general as Novak Djokovic did something similar a couple of years ago in Australia. Ironically, Djokovic played Fritz in Melbourne with an injured abdominal barely being able to move for two sets.
Then out of nowhere, he started playing much better winning the match in the 5th. He held a press conference where he was very dejected only to cruise to a trophy for the rest of the event with no mention of it. Nadal might do the same here and that's why Fognini thinks the injury is overblown.
Fognini pointed out on his Instagram story that Nadal battled like crazy for 4 and half hours writing about the injury 'For sure'. He also added that people need to stop believing everything they read.
