We saw a spectacular match at the ATP challenger in Cagliari between Daniel Taro and Ugo Humbert, a match that lasted over four hours and almost broke a record.
It was a spectacular match between the players at the event which was an ATP 250 last year. The event in Cagliari saw a match that lasted over four hours and almost broke a record. An exact four hours and 13 minutes were needed for Humbert to take down Taro showing tremendous stamina.
Both of them actually showed incredible determination in the match but it was Humbert who prevailed even though he failed to serve out the match in the previous game. Taro broke back to make it 5-4 but he wasn't able to convert the next game on his serve even though he saved break points and had game points before eventually losing.
It didn't break a record as the longest best-of-three match is still an ITF match from 2021 that lasted 4 hours and 41 minutes. The previous one was a match between Federer and Del Potro at the 2012 Olympic Games which lasted 4 hours and 26 minutes. That match didn't have a final-set tiebreak so that explains why.
