Taylor Fritz defeats Musetti to keep the US alive against Italy at Davis Cup

Taylor Fritz did what many expected him to do by beating Lorenzo Musetti 7-6(8) 6-3 keeping his nation alive in the competition.

It will all come down to the doubles between the US and Italy as Fritz was able to defeat Musetti to keep his country alive. It was largely expected that Fritz would be a win by many as he continues to play well indoors following his ATP Finals semi-final run at the ATP Finals.

It was a decent match once more from the American although he did not play as sharply as he can. The first set ended only in a tiebreak and it was one where he was down against Musetti but the Italian was unable to keep up the needed level.

Fritz took it 10-8 and then saved some early break points in the second set to keep himself alive. Things changed after that as Fritz slowly took over with his serve and groundstrokes. He broke Musetti and then cruised to a 6-3 finish.
