Patrick Mouratoglou talked about the Next Gen and competing with the big three calling it quite unlucky that they had to deal with that.
Some would say that timing is everything and it's certainly something to consider. Players throughout history either benefitted from it or suffered because of it. Andy Murray would have had a legendary career if we came up with the Next Gen instead of the big three but that's just luck.
Luck was at the forefront of Mouratoglou speaking about the Next Gen calling it unlucky that the likes of Medvedev and Tsitsipas had to deal with the big three coming up:
"They were unlucky, the generation of Medvedev, Tsitsipas etc, because they had to still face the big Rafa [Nadal], and big Novak [Djokovic] and they lost a lot against them so it kinda hurt their confidence. The younger generation, Holger and Alcaraz, for the moment haven't had to face that, so they still have that believe they can do anything, which is their asset."
He added:
"I don't believe that the generation of Tsitsipas, Medvedev, and those guys will be completely erased and that is the new generation of Holger, Alcaraz and Sinner and so on that will only win Grand Slams. I think there is going to be a big fight between two generations in the future."
