Reports from Poland recently highlighted the chief of the Polish Tennis Federation and his cases of abuse, both sexual and physical. Several persons accused the president of appalling behaviour with the number one player from that country, Swiatek now speaking up.
She released a statement on the situation, one which garnered widespread praise for the mature language used. Chris Evert was one of those that praised her, reacting on Twitter:
Djokovic return to Australian Open has seen GOAT debate conclusion more likely according to Wilander: "We really would like to know who we can label No 1 of all time"
"Just read this… well done, @iga_swiatek for owning and using your platform to speak out about abuse towards women, not only in tennis, but in every field…It’s got to stop."
Martina Navratilova reacted as well posting a couple of clapping hands emojis.
