The Russian was clearly the better player today and he proved it by winning the match in four sets. The match in Halle was not played well by Medvedev and he learnt from it a lot which he showed today. After the match he said:
“When I saw the draw the week before in Mallorca, I was like, 'Okay that’s not going to be an easy match. But that’s what tennis is about, rematches and revenges.”
Medvedev thought the match was a good one to watch as it featured several momentum changes. Medvedev even admitted the 4th set was anyone's to win:
"In a way it was, I feel like, a good tennis match to watch because a lot of different momentum changes. Actually [the] the fourth set was kind of the most even one, where we both had our chances. Both played really good."
But for Medvedev the most important thing was victory which he highlighted afterwards:
I'm really happy that I managed to get it to the tie-break and not lose the serve in the tie-break and get it done. That was not easy today."
