Bianca Andreescu is the latest big name to head out of the Women's draw at this year's
Wimbledon after a disappointing defeat to Alizé Cornet.
Andreescu who last played at Wimbledon in the main draw back in 2017 had to wait a few days for her return to the All England Club but will be going straight home after a 6-2, 6-1 defeat to the Frenchwoman.
It was a repeat of their clash in Berlin which saw Cornet also win 7-6, 7-5 but was less close with 34 unforced errors from Andreescu who did not look comfortable as she heads out of a Grand Slam main draw in the first round once more after her short stay in Paris.
The brilliance of Cornet was shown with a brilliant lob on match point which saw her surprised but summed up her performance and her form on grass as of late.
For Andreescu, it will be a soul searching mission ahead of the Olympics and her return finally to the US Open after having to pull out due to injury in her title defence last year.
This after she also split from long-time coach, Sylvain Bruneau recently which did not aid her plans coming into Wimbledon.
