Novak Djokovic will return in the opening week of 2025, he has confirmed while attending Euroleague Basketball this past week with plans afoot to play a warm-up for the Australian Open.
While he usually doesn't play warm-ups, he did play the United Cup this year albeit he learned the hard way in particular at Roland Garros that no warm-up is perhaps not the way to go at this point of his career as he was off chasing ATP 250's to get match practice.
Whilst not the sterling year, he would've hoped for. It was another year adding notches to his resume as he sealed an Olympic gold medal and fulfilled a career long ambition in the process. But while the hard work is likely to start again in earnest, Djokovic will do so still with the hunger that he can return to his best even at 37.
“Tennis is still my focus! I am going at full throttle in the off-season, we go for another ride. I just needed to recharge and refresh a bit after an exhausting year,“ Djokovic said to Sport Klub.
“I am going to play in the first week of the season, I am just not sure yet where. Then, of course, Australian Open.“ he added.
Yesterday it was UEFA Champions League, today it's Euroleague time!
