The ATP clay-court season kicked off after the Sunshine double, and Felix Auger-Aliassime is currently competing at the Grand Prix Hassan II in Marrakech, Morocco.
The Canadian recorded a 6-3 6-3 victory over Moroccan wildcard Elliot Benchetrit, and looked impressive in his debut at the ATP 250 event. However, although this is his first time competing at the event, the World No.9 is very familiar with Marrakech.
"I love this country. Of course I think everybody knows now that I have my girlfriend and some family that's from here," Auger-Aliassime said ahead of his opening match. "Of course to play also on the African continent, it's the only tournament we have on the Tour that's played here on this continent, so that's special for me.
"It's awesome to be here, honestly. I'm loving every minute to play in this mythical place."
The top seed, who received a wildcard entry to the event, next faces Slovenian Alex Molcan, who scored a 6-0 6-4 victory over Italian Stefano Travaglia in their opening round match.
