The men's tournament, known as the Grand Prix Hassan II in honour of King Hassan II of Morocco, who died in 1999, has been held since 1986. The first four editions were in the Challenger category. Since 1986, it has been played on clay in Casablanca at the Al Amal Complex. Since 1990, it has been part of the ATP 250 Series.
In the 2016 season, it moved to Marrakech. Another men's tennis tournament is organised in Morocco in the Challenger category from 2007 to 2012, the Marrakech tournament.
The tournament, as it is played on clay, has mostly been dominated by Spanish clay players. Pablo Andujar has won most titles (3).
