"There's no limit": Casper Ruud praises Ben Shelton's rapid progression in 2023

Rising tennis star Ben Shelton has been the surprise of the 2023 ATP season, and the American could be primed for greater things, according to former World No.2 Casper Ruud.

Shelton's rapid ascent up the ATP rankings has been incredible to watch, as the American quit his collegiate tennis career just over a year ago to chase his dream of playing professional tennis. The 21-year old has shattered expectations, winning his maiden ATP title in Japan last month and reaching a career-high ranking of World No.15.

"He really impresses me," said the Norwegian star. "He never gives up. He keeps fighting, keeps hustling, and I've seen it many times before - he has a great attitude. You kind of feel surprised how fast it's gone for him. But I'm not surprised at the same time. He's going to be dangerous for years to come and he is going to improve.

"As long as he keeps the right attitude and keeps working hard, there's no limit [to what he can achieve]. I wish I had that arm [for his serve], it’s like 140-145mph. So it seems like a dream."
