Thiem among latest wildcards for 2023 Australian Open

Former Australian Open finalist Dominic Thiem received a wild card entry into the Australian Open main draw which is something he's really happy about.

Not having to play the qualifiers is rather important for Thiem as he'd rather just play in the main draw instead. He needs the points to improve upon his ranking and the main draw will give him that chance. Thiem expressed gratitude for the wild card on social media by posting a story about it on Instagram.

He's a former finalist of the event having played Djokovic in one. The Serbian prevailed in five sets coming back from a 1-2 disadvantage in sets to win the match. Thiem understands that he won't challenge for grand slams early in the year but for him it's mostly about staying first and working his way back to the level he had before the injury.
