Dominic Thiem will miss the entire Golden Swing as the Austrian withdrew from Rio and Santiago today after withdrawing from Buenos Aires a few days ago.
Dominic Thiem is still nursing problems in his wrist after suffering an injury last year in Mallorca. The Austrian player suffered a setback in September which forced him to abandon plans of playing in 2021 and he is yet to return. A few days ago he admitted to having a small problem in his wrist that will heal naturally but it forced him to withdraw from the Buenos Aires event.
Thiem also admitted that he won't return until he is 100 % explaining that he is about 95 % fully healthy. Now he elected to withdraw from Santiago and Rio de Janeiro as well opting to return at Indian Wells. The withdrawals will hurt him on the rankings as the Austrian has already dropped quite significantly and he will have a lot of work to do in order to get back to form.
He said in a press statemenet:
"Training was going well in Vienna and I am so happy that I’ve made a full recovery regarding my wrist. Unfortunately, I have suffered this minor setback in Santiago, which has forced me to temporarily stop training. It’s never easy to come back after being away from competition for seven months. I will follow my doctor’s advice and after resting a couple of days, I will start training again next week. I need some consistent time on-court before making my comeback."

Dominic Thiem, who played for the last time in june, will miss the entire Golden Swing. Withdrew from Buenos Aires, Rio and Santiago. Plans to comeback at Indian Wells, where he will defend 500 points. Ranking likely to drop pretty badly.
