Novak Djokovic has been embroiled in an immigration saga since his arrival in Australia last week, and American tennis player
Tennys Sandgren believes the authorities are trying to make an excuse out of the Serbian.
Djokovic applied for and was granted a medical exemption to play at the
Australian Open, but a mix-up in his visa paperwork led to him being detained by immigration. Furthermore, the defending champion had his visa cancelled and is currently in the process of appealing to enable him to participate at Melbourne Park next week.
Sandgren, who is no stranger to voicing his opinions, took to Twitter to defend Djokovic and criticize the Australian authorities on how they are handling the matter.
"This is a humiliation ritual at this point," wrote the World No.93. "An example must be made.
"The docile were feeling uncomfortable."
The American made no direct mention of Djokovic but his tweet was posted soon after news broke of the Serbian's visa being canceled.
