I think his coach ran over to let him know that he’s fallen back to number 4 in Britain in the live rankings. Think that disappointment is why it took him so long the get up. Pathetic.
With all the controversy going on in the tennis world at the moment, Great Britain's Andy Murray decided to lighten the mood by taking a friendly jab at countryman Liam Broady.
Broady, who is currently ranked 127th in the world, had to play through qualifiers in order to gain entrance to the Australian Open. The 28-year old rallied from a set down in his final match to defeat Russian Roman Safiullin and book his spot in the main draw of the Melbourne Park Major.
Overcome by emotion, Broady dropped to the ground in joy, with his coach running over to comfort him. However, Murray decided to take a joking shot at his compatriot, replying to a video of the heartwarming moment on Twitter.
"I think his coach ran over to let him know that he’s fallen back to number 4 in Britain in the live rankings," wrote the three-time Grand Slam champion. "Think that disappointment is why it took him so long the get up. Pathetic."
The Scot has been known to have a dry sense of humor, and is frequently posting humorous pictures and captions on social media. No doubt, this will lead to some friendly banter when both men eventually meet up.
