Stefanos Tsitsipas hopes to finally win the Rotterdam Open after creating a couple of good memories over the years at the event.
He came pretty close last year as he made it to the final but he found himself beaten by a really strong Felix Auger-Aliassime. The hope is that this year might be the year he does and he made a pretty good start by beating Ruusuvuori in two sets. At 24 Tsitsipas is still fairly young but it's his 7th appearance at the event already:
"Seventh time already? Well, that's more than I thought,’ he says. 'It certainly feels like yesterday when I walk through the halls and on Centre Court. I feel like was here just last week. This is where it all started for me as a tennis pro."
It's been very good for him in Rotterdam over the years as he played a final, a semi-final and just did well. He kind of started here as he alluded to it in the comment and the goal this week is clear. Get his name on the list of winners:
"As a tennis player, I want to push my boundaries and push them. Break records. This week I can do that by getting my name on that board there. If I can do that, I'll be a very happy man"
From there, Tsitsipas hopes to push new boundaries.
