Following his unexpected title win at the
Stuttgart Open,
Frances Tiafoe rose to a new career-high ranking and was congratulated by several members of the tennis community.
Tiafoe defeated home-favorite Jan-Lennard Struff to claim his third ATP title, and make his debut in the Top 10 rankings at World No.10. The 25-year-old also became the third African-American male to reach the top 10 after Arthur Ashe and James Blake.
The American was showered with compliments by several fans and compatriots, including WTA counterpart
Coco Gauff.
"Top 10, lfg @bigfoe1998,” Gauff wrote on Instagram.
Former world No.1
Chris Evert also lauded the Maryland native, praising him for his performance.
"Congratulations!!!," Evert wrote on Twitter.
American teammate
Jessica Pegula also praised Tiafoe and compatriot Taylor Fritz, as the both became the first American duo to be ranked inside the Top 10 since 2012.
