Although the calendar for 2020 season was very short, and players lacked some of the big events to announce the retirement, we saw 4 noticeable names retire from the world of professional tennis in 2020.
Even though the title says top 3 retirements, there will be 4 names. The reason is very simple, Bob and Mike Bryan retired on 26th August 2020. Probably the best duo to ever step on the doubles court ended their career with 1108-359 doubles record as a team.
Also two former members of Top 40 in singles said their goodbye to the ATP Tour in 2020. Former world number 28, Santiago Giraldo is one of them. The Colombian reached Grand Slam 3rd round three times in total and enjoyed a lengthy career.
Also former world number 38, Steve Darcis will not be seen on the ATP Tour anymore. The Belgian reached also the third round of the Grand Slam, but only twice. He also played the finals of the Davis Cup with Belgium in 2015 and 2017, but never managed to get his hands on the trophy.
