Bianca Andreescu was one of the best players in 2019, however, in 2020 she missed the whole season and now her coach, Sylvain Bruneau spoke about her come back in 2021.
The 2021 WTA season was not as many expected it to be, and also some players missed the major part of the season. One of these players was also the 2019 US Open champion, Bianca Andreescu who missed the whole season. Now, the young Canadian is preparing for 2021, and her coach spoke about it when he said:
“It was a very hard year. We trained in Monte-Carlo to fully recover from her knee injury. She was ready to make her return at Indian Wells, but all the tournaments were cancelled by the pandemic. During the summer we trained to prepare for the come-back, but she was sidelined by a foot injury and we had to stop training," Bruneau said.
"I am optimistic that injuries are now part of the past. Her breakthrough was so fast, that she was not ready to play many high-level matches in a short period of time. We are working on her first serve. It could be an important weapon in her game. I would like to see her play more frequently at the net. We watch matches to learn something new, that could be added to her game. Her tennis can be different from the game played by other players. We are inspired by male players”, said Sylvain Bruneau.
“Bianca gives her best in hard-fought matches and has to find the competitive feeling. She is going to be totally happy and excited to go back on the court and compete and is extremely motivated. The other side is that you get used to pressure by being put into it a little bit. When you are not facing that music for a little while, there is going to be a little bit of an adaptation, but Bianca, just by her nature, has always been someone who has thrived on competition”, said Bruneau.
