World No.3
Stefanos Tsitsipas booked his spot in the round of 16 at the Western & Southern Open late Wednesday night, overcoming
Sebastian Korda in straight sets.
The Greek star faced some difficulty in the opening set, but dominated the second to secure a 7-6(5) 6-3 victory. Although he faced a slight hiccup as he hit four double faults in the match, the second seed won 33 of 37 points on his first serve. His impeccable serving enabled him to save both break points faced, giving Korda little room to create any opportunities.
With this win, the 23-year old has booked a date with
Lorenzo Sonego in the next round. The Italian defeated American qualifier
Tommy Paul 7-6(9) 6-2, but lost his sole encounter against Tsitsipas earlier this year in Miami.
