Stefanos Tsitispas struggled with Dzumhur in the past but today there was no struggle for the 2nd seed.
Tsitsipas entered the Miami Open after another good week of tennis that saw him reach the Acapulco Open final but ultimately which he lost to Zverev. The start of his Miami Open campaign today was a success. He faced Damir Dzumhur who has beaten him three times before but today it was all Tsitsipas.
He came out inspired racing all over the court covering every angle possible. He also took advantage of Dzumhur's relatively week serve winning the opening set 6-1. Dzumhur tried in the first set but he was simply overpowered by a better player.
The 2nd set was much better from Dzumhur who for the most part was able to contain Tsitsipas and his aggression. The Greek did not push himself too much either as he broke Dzumhur early in the set to take a lead and from there he mainly focused on his own serve where he dominated.
In the end, Tsitsipas closed it out with 6-4 after just over 60 minutes of tennis. It was a strong display consistent with his form recently. Dzumhur was realistically no match for him so the 2nd seed keeps marching on in Miami.
