A common theme nowadays with Andrey Rublev is smashing racquets and often himself with said racquets and sometimes he gets away with it but not on this occasion only five games in to his tie with Zizou Bergs at the Miami Open.
Rublev was set serve at 2-3 down in the first set after Bergs held his serve and instead of merely trudging back to his bench, he decided to smash his racquet against his foot.
This prompted a quick code violation from the umpire as she shanked the ball and smashed the racquet off his foot. He infamously had the issue of being disqualified for screaming in a line judge's face last year in Dubai.
He has since opened up about his mental health travails but continues to persist in often harming his knee by smashing his racquet off it.
“When I look at the video now it is embarrassing, it looks very bad,” he admitted previously.
“For me, it is tough to see those things as well, but everyone fails sometimes. That was my week when I couldn’t manage my emotions and I couldn’t manage the stress that I was having.
