In what will be a bizarre sight to most tennis fans, Andy Murray has been spotted coaching his new charge Novak Djokovic for the first time as Australian Open preparation continues in Melbourne.

Murray wasn't involved during his Brisbane International campaign in which he shockingly lost to Reilly Opelka in a match that highlighted the vulnerability still of Djokovic but also the excellence of Opelka.

The Brit who was his rival throughout his career starts his coaching career with Djokovic in a move dubbed out of left field and in the view of some as a publicity stunt. But either way, it gets the tennis world talking.

Djokovic lauded the meticulous nature that Murray takes in his coaching with the duo despite not being seen together at a tournament until now having a training block in the run-up to the Australian summer.

Murray was skiing with his family while Djokovic tackled Brisbane as Djokovic joked about hoping he doesn't get injured like his playing days. But it seems likely this was booked knowing that in retirement, he wouldn't have a tennis tournament to prepare for this time of year.

Albeit of course that was very much wrong as he is now coaching Djokovic. Funny how it all comes full circle.
