Serbia’s tennis star
Novak Djokovic remained calm during the
medical timeout in the Cincinnati Open (Southern & Western Open).
The 36-year-old faced Spain’s Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in
the round of 32 clash on Wednesday.
During the match, Djokovic took a medical timeout but remained
in high spiring and blew a kiss to a fan who was recording the reaction of the
legendary player.
The current world number two eventually managed to cement his
place in the next round, courtesy of a walkover win.
He won the first set with a score of 6-4 but the game was
called off before the start of the second set.
Djokovic will be hoping to continue the winning run in the
competition in order to get maximum preparation time ahead of the upcoming US
Open.
The fourth and final Grand Slam of the year is set to begin
in less than 15 days’ time where players will battle it out for the ultimate
glory.
Djokovic has a good record — according to his own high standards
— while playing at the Flashing Meadows where he lifted the title three times.
His most recent victory in New York came five years back in
2018 when he defeated Argentina’s Juan Martín del Potro in the final with a
score of 6–3, 7–6(7–4), 6–3.
