Former world number one
Martina
Navratilova has once again rallied against the involvement of transgender
athletes in women's tennis.
The 66-year-old remained very vocal against the involvement
of transgender athletes in the women’s category and has time and again raised
her voice.
While responding to a politician’s comment on X, formerly
known as Twitter, Navratilova, once again stated her views and suggested that
it would be wrong for younger athletes to share a backroom with transgender athletes.
Navratilova is famously known as one of the greatest
players in the history of women’s singles tennis in the Open era.
The Prague-born ended up winning 18 Grand Slams in her illustrious
career which lasted more than 30 years.
Her most successful competition was Wimbledon where she
ended up lifting the title as many as nine times — 1978, 1979, 1982, 1983,
1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1990.
On the contrary, her least successful competition was the
French Open where she ended up lifting the title just twice — in 1982 and 1984.
Her first major title victory was Wimbledon triumph in 1978 whereas
her last title major title in the singles category was also Wimbledon back in
1970.
