Gael Monfils struggled immensely ever since the pandemic hit as the player who plays for fans could not find any motivation to perform for empty stands.
With fans slowly starting to become part of the picture of tennis once more Monfils is starting to get some of that magic back. That is certainly the case in Toronto this week where Monfils is playing his best tennis in close to two years. The Frenchman reached the quarterfinals narrowly losing to
John Isner.
Even with the loss, Monfils was able to showcase some of the tennis magic and showmanship that has made him a fan favourite around the world. In the 5th game of the first set, Monfils pulled off an unbelievable tweener to win the point after faking out John Isner with before.
It was a spectacular passing shot especially because it was a tweener against a man as tall as John Isner on the net. The crowd loved it and you will too. Check it out.
