Novak Djokovic's life is full of improbable events during the last weeks. First,
he got defaulted from the 2020 US Open after accidentally hitting a line judge. Now, he experienced an incident with a referee again, but this time it was an umpire that made a very rare mistake during his quarterfinal match against Dominik Koepfer at the Internazionali BNL d’Italia in Rome.
Novak Djokovic broke Dominik Koepfer in the third game of the third set to get a 2-1 lead. Everybody would expect the umpire to say: "Gioco Djokovic", what means - Game Djokovic in Italian. However, out of nowhere, the umpire said: "Gioco Federer."
Nacho Forcadell, who was the umpire of the quarterfinal match has mistaken two of the greatest tennis players in history. He quickly corrected himself and replaced Federer's name with Djokovic's, but this created a very interesting moment in Rome as the Swiss didn't step on the court since February this year.
