Casper Ruud showed all his annoyance due to shouts from the crowd while facing Francisco Cerundolo in the semifinals of the Madrid Open. The 3-time Grand Slam runner-up advanced to his third Masters 1000 final and will seek the title this Sunday after the 6-4, 7-5 victory.
The former world No. 2 was in a delicate moment at 2-2 in the second set, a game in which he faced 7 break points before holding his serve. However, there were also tense moments due to factors external to what was happening on the court.
Several times during the game, Ruud was interrupted by shouts from a fan during his serve. After several minutes of uncomfortable moments, the world No. 15 approached the umpire to complain about the interruptions.
"Have you ever listened to some Norwegian doing this?" Ruud began. "How many times can they scream before I can demand something? How many seconds before I can demand another serve or a replay?" insisted an annoyed Ruud.
In any case, Ruud came through the game, saving seven break points against him, in a difficult moment of the match. Ruud ended up winning 6-4, 7-5 and advanced to his third Masters 1000 final and his first at the Madrid Open. He will seek his first title in this category against the winner between Jack Draper and Lorenzo Musetti.
