It all started to go a good direction for the young Russian during this year. He has won 59 matches and moved to the 5th place of the ATP Ranking. Russia has a strong team ahead of the upcoming ATP Cup and so Medvedev and Safin met to share some words.
"Everybody loves Marat on and off the court. He's one of the legends of our sport so you can only learn from him," said Medvedev. On what Safin reacted in a joking way saying: "Wow! Good answer! Well done!"
Medvedev continued as he also spoke about Safin's wild side: "All Russian kids, they were doing two things, backhand on the jump and smashing racquets."
"We met this year only. (He) looks (like a) good person. Down to Earth, plays not bad tennis, I'm happy to be a captain," Safin added.
