Rafael Nadal has hit back after claims that he received special treatment when it came to the building of his academy in Manacor.
Mayor of Manacor, Miquel Oliver claimed that a law was made on purpose in order for Nadal to have this work done; but he said that it is offensive and painful to hear these words.
Nadal said that from his perspective, he feels very privileged that he could carry out this work and so is annoyed that certain people involved feel that way.
“Illegal it is not, but that does not mean that a law has been made on purpose to carry out that work.” said Oliver as quoted by Cadena SER.
“Honestly, having to read and listen to this is very offensive and painful. Perhaps there are people who do not like the way I have taken the name of Manacor all over the world, but I think there is no doubt that I have tried to do it in the best possible way,” Nadal wrote.
“I feel privileged, since the parliamentary majority considered in a democratic way that this strategic project for Mallorca would be much stronger if it was carried out while I was active (still playing tennis), since the impact would multiply.”
