Serbiaโs tennis star
Novak Djokovic has heaped praise on Indiaโs
legendary doubles star
Rohan Bopanna. Both players are currently taking part in
the singles and doubles category in the
Monte-Carlo Masters.
In a video posted on the social media platform X โ previously
known as Twitter โ on the page of ATP, Djokovic, who recently became the oldest
number one player in the singles category, heaped praise on Bopanna who became
the oldest world number one in the doubles category.
โWe were just saying that we are combined 80 years old,โ he
said in the video. Itโs not really balanced. Itโs not 50-50. He brings more
years to the 80s. But I think weโre still going strong. But itโs amazing to share the Tour with you for so many
years and what an incredible moment to be the oldest No 1 in singles and
doubles at the same time. Itโs great for Serbian tennis and Indian tennis and
hopefully, we can do something in India soon, we can play there. I really look
forward to it.
โItโs a huge country, obviously humongous population and to
have tennis at such a high level in India is extremely important for our sport
and you are contributing to that along with [fellow Indian greats] Sania Mirza,
[Mahesh] Bhupathi and [Laendar] Paez, who have paved the way. Itโs amazing. We
are old, but gold!โ
