Not sure what he was pleading for. ๐ #Tiafoe #EuropeanOpen
The match was an unbelievable one that had many amazing and both comical moments. It last close to 4 hours and with that it became the longest 'best of 3 match' of the season on the ATP Tour. Both Murray and Tiafoe had moments of brilliance and one such moment came in the tiebreak of the 3rd set where Murray and Tiafoe were serving great.
Both reeled off 5,6 great serves in a row and both of them could only crack a smile at the situation. It was like the match was never supposed to end. Eventually, Murray won that final tiebreak with 10-8 to move on to the next round. Another comical situation happened earlier in the match when Tiafoe, frustrated after losing a rally on the net, went up to umpire Carlos Bernardes and pleaded for help.
Bernandes was sympathetic to the gesture cracking a smile but proceeded to announce the score. Tiafoe gave the umpire a tap on the knee and resumed the match. He did play better after that so it seems like it worked. Check it out below.
