Switzerland’s tennis star Stan Wawrinka has hilariously admitted that he would like to steal the Tennis Channel mug.
The 38-year-old is currently taking part in the Cincinnati Open (Western & Southern Open) where he has already cemented his place in the round of 32 after beating America’s Brandon Nakashima with a score of 6-3, 6-7, 6-3 in the tournament opener.
Wawrinka is reportedly a big fan of the Tennis Channel mug and when appeared in a sideshow during the event, he hilariously agreed that he will take the mug with him.
The Lausanne-born, who is now set to face America’s Frances Tiafoe, will be hoping to have an extended run in the competition in order to get good practice under his belt ahead of the upcoming US Open 2023.
The fourth and final Grand Slam of the year will begin in less than 15 days’ time in New York where players from all over the world will showcase their talent.
Wawrinka won the US Open back in 2016 after defeating the current world number two Serbia’s Novak Djokovic in the final with a score of 6–7(1–7), 6–4, 7–5, 6–3.
However, since then, Wawrinka has played in the quarterfinal or beyond just once in three attempts and failed to appear three times as well.
