Spain’s tennis star
Carlos Alcaraz has showcased his commitment
towards the sport by stating that there are no holidays for elite athletes.
The 20-year-old is often regarded as one of the most highly-rated
young tennis players currently playing in the men’s singles category alongside
Italy’s Jannik Sinner and America’s Ben Shelton.
Alcaraz, in a post on his official account on social media
platform X — previously known as Twitter — showcased his commitment to the fans
by writing: "Last day before
Christmas and more tennis! We don't stop for holidays."
Alcaraz made a name for himself earlier this year when he
lifted the Wimbledon title after beating the current world number one and Serbia’s
legendary tennis star Novak Djokovic in a five-set thrilling final with a score
of 1–6, 7–6(8–6), 6–1, 3–6, 6–4.
However, after that, Alcaraz had a slightly harder time as he
could not keep his top spot in the ATP Ranking after losing to the world number
three Russia’s Daniil Medvedev in the semifinal of the US Open with a score of
7-6, 6-1, 3-6, 6-3.
He did not have a great end to the season as he lost the
semifinal of the ATP Finals to Djokovic in straight sets with a score of 6-3,
6-2.
