Spain’s young tennis star and the current world number two Carlos
Alcaraz will be taking part in the upcoming Argentina Open.
The 20-year-old is often regarded as one of the most
highly-rated players currently playing in the men’s singles category alongside Italy’s
Jannik Sinner.
As per the latest report, Alcaraz will be defending his title
at the ATP 250 event will begin on Monday. He won the title last year
despite playing in the competition for the first time. He defeated Britain’s Cameron
Norrie in the final of the competition in straight sets with a score of 6-3, 7-5. He will be playing his first match on Wednesday.
Alcaraz will be hoping that the upcoming event will give her
a chance to regain his somewhat lost form. He had a tough beginning to his 2024
season where he was knocked out of the Australian Open after losing in the
quarterfinal to Germany’s Alexander Zverev with a score of 6-1, 6-3, 6-7, 6-4.
It was the second consecutive Grand Slam where Alcaraz failed
to qualify for the final. The El Palmar-born was knocked out of the US Open
2023 after losing in the semifinal to the current world number three Russia’s Daniil
Medvedev with a score of 7-6, 6-1, 3-6, 6-3.
