Having two of the most infamous tennis players on commentary would make any tennis match worth a listen, therefore it came as no surprise that the commentary team of Nick Kyrgios and John McEnroe did not fail to deliver.
McEnroe has long been an analyst for the BBC, and is often seen and heard on commentary during Grand Slam events. Conversely, Kyrgios was recently hired by the network to do some color commentary during the ongoing Wimbledon Championships. With two of the most volatile personalities in front of a live mic, you never know what to expect.

Kyrgios jokingly accuses McEnroe of snubbing his texts

The Aussie star has been battling injuries for the past 18 months, and has made no mention of a return date to the ATP Tour. Nonetheless, he stated he still practices often, and revealed he hits with former World No.1 Novak Djokovic on the outside courts at SW19. However, he insinuated that he reached out to McEnroe for a hitting session, but the American never responded to his text messages.
"I do miss being out there," said Kyrgios when asked if he wanted to keep playing or do commentary. "You know the rush it brings and I want to give the fans something to remember - whether it’s good or bad.
"I had a two-hour practice this morning. I’ve been hitting with Novak every other day. It’s good and everything is going well. I’ve been trying to get Johnny Mac to get out there but he won’t even reply to my messages!”
McEnroe, always ready with a comeback, decided to take Kyrgios up on his offer.
"I don’t believe that for a second! You ready at four tomorrow?” asked the retired American.
“Yeah, that’s possible,” responded Kyrgios.
