Matteo Berrettini dropped a set where he had 8 break points against Murray and he made sure not to make the same mistake in the final set.
The Italian had two break points and he used one of them to avoid the disaster that happened in the 3rd set. He was better the entire time, had plenty of chances but was not aggressive enough which he highlighted as important after the match:
“You learn from the past and learn from mistakes. I wasn’t aggressive enough with the break points [in the third set] but that is tennis. I think Andy played a really good set in order to not get broken, but I was feeling better. I had more chances and I thought the same thing in the fourth set. I had my chance and I took it.”
Analysts noted that the Italian got a bit tight in some moments and he explained after the match that it's normal. He gets nervous and tight because he cares:
“It is normal to get tight. That is what I told myself when I played here against Gael [Monfils], I double faulted on match point. It is normal. We care about this. I told myself next time was going to be more brave in a way and that is what I tried to do in the fourth.”
