Zizou Bergs calls out Nick Kyrgios's criticism on his French Open move

Belgium’s tennis player Zizou Bergs has taken a dig at Australia’s Nick Kyrgios and highlighted that he does not criticise well. The 29-year-old is famous for being outspoken and has been criticised for his comments and actions, both on and off the field.

Earlier this year, Bergs had a decent run in the French Open, where his journey was eventually cut short after he lost to Bulgaria’s Grigor Dimitrov with a score of 6-3, 7-6, 4-6, 6-4. After winning the second-round clash against Germany’s Maximilian Marterer with a score of 3-6, 6-3, 6-1, 6-3, the Lommel-born star had an interesting celebration on the court which received mixed reviews from the fans on the social media.

However, one person who was not impressed with those celebrations was Kyrgios, who, in a post on the social media platform X — previously known as Twitter — wrote a sentence to describe his feeling. “Lame”, he wrote. Bergs recently spoke to Clay, and he explained the reason behind such a celebration at the Roland Garros. The 25-year-old then went on to take a dig at Kyrgios, who, according to him, is not good with taking criticism.

"I've got to say, the atmosphere in the French Open was ridiculous,” he said “It was so good from the first day of quallies until the last day I was playing there. Surreal. I was really grateful for that. Everything depends on how the atmosphere is going during the match. In Wimbledon, there’s a whole other vibe. It is different and unique. Less loud, more classic. It was quite funny, because after the French Open, every tournament I was playing I hear so many people shouting, ‘where is the party?’ Also in one on-court interview after a victory in s-Hertogenbosch the presentator asked me at the end ‘where is the party’. It's a lot of fun that the fans are vibing with me. I barely know him [Nick Kyrgios], but I have to say I do really like him. On court he's doing things a little bit differently. To say "lame" is a little bit less nice from him. He can criticize a lot, but when he gets criticized, he never takes it well. I'm not surprised that he's saying this.”
