Alexander Zverev had no issues in the first round of the Tokyo Olympic Games, defeating Lu 6-1 6-3.
The German got a very good first-round draw against Lu who is far removed from his best tennis and it showed. Asserting his dominance from the start of the match Zverev was able to take an early break. From there he kept imposing his will against Lu who had no counter against him.
He won the first set with 6-1 and continued to play well in the second set. Zverev took his foot off the gas a little bit which allowed Lu to find some rhythm but ultimately when it was time to clinch the match Zverev raised his aggressiveness and broke Lu.
He closed out the match with 6-3 to move on to the 2nd round. A great start for Zverev who will be happy to see an easy win after a rather disappointing showing at Wimbledon.
