One year ago the ATP launched an investigation into the domestic abuse claims made by Zverev's former partner against him
The investigation was opened after heavy pressure from fans and the public demanding it after an article was published detailing what apparently happened. The situation is still ongoing as the investigation has not yet concluded leaving fans still unclear about what truly happened.
Asked to comment about it by insidethegames, an ATP spokesperson said:
Ruud admits burn-out after early exit in Tokyo: "I might have pushed a little bit too much and tried to go for too many tournaments"
"The investigation being conducted by a third party continues to be ongoing. ATP will provide further information once the investigation is complete."
The accusations are two years old as the initial claims were made in an article that was published in October of 2020. It took the ATP a full year to finally investigate whether Zverev truly abused his then-partner in a violent way.
